Sensei
… and school owner Peter “Chewy” Chmielewski (Facebook) began practical interest in swords at an age of 12, learning fencing in Europe. Over 12 years, Peter represented his region and Country on a number of occasions. He also practiced Kendo and Karate, before a major life change occurred, taking him to Australia in 1987. Here, Peter taught fencing, first in Adelaide then in Brisbane. His students included members of the Medieval Society and Australian athletes (fencing and pentathlon) preparing for Sydney 2000 Olympics.
While looking for non competitive swordsmanship, Peter met and started to train in the Korean sword art and become a Kummmoyeh accredited instructor. Did also trained in Seitei Iaido.
However… as he did not fund what instinctively was looking for… the journey is continuing….
And now, Peter is a sensei, travels regularly to Japan to learn and practice Shinkage Ryu/ShinShin Ryu.
Also, practices the most traditional, swordsmanship, old school of Shinto Ryu... learning and passion is continuing, for always…
Peter’s passion for swords is not limited to using them. He has accumulated quite a collection over the years!
